KALAMKARI
One of the ancient exquisite art form of hand painting on fabrics ( Pure Silk/ Cotton). The word “Kalam” means pen and “Kari” means artwork. The Art form was started something 3000 B.C in a small district of Andrapradesh but it got recognition during the Mughal Era.

The whole process of Kalamkari undergoes 23 steps of bleaching, washing, painting, dyeing and starching. The fabrics are painted with tamarind pens and natural colors.

It is an art of story- telling where we find the motifs of birds, flowers, paisleys inspired from Hindu Mythology, Ramayana and Mahabharata.
