Tussar silk also known as tusser, kosa or raw silk, is mainly produced in the states of West Bengal, Jharkhand and Bihar.Tussar sarees reflect the wilderness and exotic nature of the silkworms from which they are produced. Produced in lighter shades of colours like cream, beige, brown, these raw silk sarees are often dyed with darker shades to give the rich look to it. Tussar sarees are usually blended with cotton, wool or linen fabrics, which make these jute sarees more vibrant and comfortable. Tussar sarees, in its natural colour of honey or cream are adorned with beautiful embroidered border and pallu. Contemporary designs include the geometrical designs and kantha stitches all over the body of the tussar silk saree.
